AMERICA BREATHS SIGH OF RELIEF: CANADA VOTES TO EXTEND ITS TROOP PRESENCE IN AFGANISTAN
Assuaging grave American doubts about the War on Terror, Canada has voted to maintain its key role in stamping out Al Queda.
“Thank God,” said Bush, nearly weeping with joy when he heard the news. “It was rough goin’ there for a while. To be honest I thought we were screwed. Once again, it’s the good old Maple Leaf to the rescue.”
Pundits agree that Bush was referring, in that last sentence, to Canada’s vital role in past wars, such as the Ottawa Counterstrike near the Cambodian border in ’73, the Toronto Fighting 9th’s Anvil of Fear during the Korean Conflict, and of course the Battle of the Protuberance near the Rhine in ’44, in which Canadian Forces single-handedly turned the tide of the war with Hitler.
Now terrorists the world over are running for their caves, as word of Canada’s continued might in the Middle East spreads. Meanwhile, Canada continues its unsung bulwark against anarchy in Iraq.
