FLORIDA CITIZENS SPEAK OUT IN DEFENSE OF THEIR HOME
In response to a growing national sentiment that Florida is simply uninhabitable, that to build and live in a hurricane zone is pointless, Florida's citizens are firing back:
"Sure," said Zed Arbuckle of Kissimmee, "My trailer home gets blown away every year. And sure, the crime rate is nuts, and… wait, what was my point?"
"Okay," said Kelly Saxon, a UCF student, "every year the streets are cluttered with storm debris. And okay, maybe the humidity and heat are unbearable, but… wait, what was my point?"
"All right," said Don Gilmore, a Disney executive, "so the economy plummets every year during hurricane season. And All right, so the state population is equally divided between rednecks and self-absorbed temporaries from out of state, but… wait, what was my point?"
"Granted," said Maria Gonzales, a Miami ombudsman, "the cost in lives and money is hardly worth enduring the hurricanes. And granted, the whole state will be underwater by 2100. And granted, the Disney corporation is a bullying, litigious nation state, yet another corporation with a Bush in its pocket, but… hold on, what the fuck was my point? I'm outta here!"
