LOCAL WOMAN ACKNOWLEDGES FUNNINESS OF SUITOR’S ANECDOTE, BUT DOESN’T LAUGH

An area date went down-hill on Friday when a mildly humorous story about a co-worker elicited no laughter. The brief narrative, told by 29-year-old Customer Service Representative Justin Billings to paramour Nicole Casey, fell somewhat flat, and failed in its goal: to excite, via humor, the sexual interest of Nicole.

“I don’t remember it too well,” says Nicole, who has since foresworn Myspace dating. “Something about this guy trying to get a fax machine to work. It almost seemed like he ripped it off from that movie Office Space. I mean, the guy in the story was middle-eastern.”

At the end of the story, Nicole reportedly said, with half-hearted sincerity: “Huh. That is so funny.”

With rumors of plagiarism rampant, Mr. Billings has been unavailable for comment.
